Through the early evening the storms intensify further in a final fury of self-immolation as the clouds continue to collapse. Continuing strong winds often generate fierce lightning, and the lightning display intensifies further at night. Arizona is famous for its spectacular lightning displays during Monsoons, and power outages are common.
